Privacy Policy

SG Best (“we”, “us”) runs sg-best.com, an independent directory and ranking of companies, venues and events in Singapore. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the choices you have. We follow Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA).

1. What we collect

• Contact form and WhatsApp messages: your name, email, phone number (if you give it) and your message.
• Newsletter: your email address and the date you signed up.
• SG Best Connect accounts: your name, email, and any profile details you choose to add, such as company, role, photo and LinkedIn link. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email and profile picture from Google.
• Usage data: pages viewed, clicks, approximate location, device and browser, collected with PostHog analytics and standard server logs.
• Public business information: to build our listings, we collect information businesses publish themselves, such as their website, Google Business profile, menus, promotions, logos, and posts and profile details from public Instagram Business and Creator accounts (read through Meta’s official API). This is business information, not information about private individuals.

2. How we use it

• To reply to your enquiries and handle listing, correction and partnership requests.
• To send the newsletter you asked for. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
• To run Connect: your profile, event check-ins and connections you make.
• To compile, rank and keep our listings up to date.
• To understand how the site is used and improve it, and to keep it secure.

We do not sell personal data.

3. Who we share it with

We share data only with service providers that help us run the site, under contracts that require them to protect it: hosting (Hetzner), analytics (PostHog), email delivery, and Google (for Google sign-in). Some of these providers store data outside Singapore. Where they do, we make sure it is protected to a standard comparable to the PDPA. We may also disclose data where the law requires it.

4. Data from Meta (Facebook and Instagram)

Our SG Best Discovery app uses Meta’s Instagram Graph API only to read publicly available information from Instagram Business and Creator accounts, such as bio, website, follower count, and recent posts with their captions and images. We use it to show up-to-date menus, promotions and details for businesses in our listings. We do not use it to collect data about private individuals, and we do not sell it. 5. Cookies

We use cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in to Connect and to measure site usage with PostHog. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you do, parts of Connect may not work.

6. How long we keep it

We keep personal data only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as the law requires. Contact messages are kept for up to 2 years. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Connect data is kept until you delete your account.

7. Your rights

You can ask to see or correct the personal data we hold about you, or withdraw your consent for us to use it. Email info@sg-best.com and we will reply within 30 days. To have your data deleted, follow the steps on our data deletion page.

8. Security

We protect personal data with reasonable security measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and restricted access to our systems. No system is completely secure, though, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above.
